In June 2026, Branch 641 launched the Veteran Memorial Banner Program to honour and recognize Veterans who willingly served, continue to serve, or made the ultimate sacrifice in service to Canada. Their courage, dedication, and sacrifice have helped preserve the freedoms we enjoy today.
Veteran Memorial Banners will be mounted in mid-October 2026 and annually thereafter on lamp posts from the corner of Malvern Drive and Sherway Drive, past John McCrae High School, to Fable Street, and will be removed in mid-November.
This is an excellent location to honour our Veterans, as the Veteran Memorial Banners will be displayed in front of the Remembrance Memorial at John McCrae High School during the month leading up to Remembrance Day, making them visible to hundreds of students at local schools and to visitors to the Walter Baker Sports Centre.
See examples of Memorial Banners on the Dominion Command website.
Purchase a Veteran Memorial Banner
To qualify for a Veteran Memorial Banner, the Veteran (deceased, retired, or currently serving) must be, or have been, a member of the Canadian Armed Forces or the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), as recognized by Veterans Affairs Canada, or have served alongside Canadian troops as a member of an allied military force.
The cost of a Veteran Memorial Banner includes the production of the banner and all associated fees for its mounting and removal. After the Veteran Memorial Banners are removed, Branch 641 will clean the banners and return them to the Veteran/family.
Additionally, Branch 641 will add the Veteran’s photo and military service information to the Veterans Memorial Banner Library (coming soon), which will serve as an archive of the program.
